All About SLES
Here is a very short video which can explain all of the basics that have to do with Sodium Laureth Sulfate. Please enjoy.
As mentioned in the video Sodium Laureth Sulfate, SLES, is a very close cousin to Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, SLS, which is the stronger of the two chemicals. Sodium Laureth Sulfate is created in bulk in massive factories from a few simple ingredients. SLES well as SLS can be derived from many things, which comes down to two really important factors. The first factor is whether to use harsh or natural chemicals to star out the reaction.
Both can be created from petroleum, although there are many plant-based alternatives as well. the second factor that must be considered is what other reactants do you have on hand to react with the original reactant. There are many chemical reactions that could give you SLES or SLS but if you do not have the chemicals to get the reactions done then the right chemical will never be created properly. If this chemical is created improperly it can result in a lot of very bad situations. the worst of which is the creation of 1,4-dioxane
which has been to be a cancer causing contaminant in the past.
One way to create Sodium Laureth Sulfate is as follows...
